For many women, the appearance of their breasts is more important than size. Over time, the effects of gravity and the loss of the skin’s natural elasticity begin to have an effect on the appearance of a woman’s breasts. These factors, combined with pregnancies, nursing and weight changes, can cause the breasts to lose their youthful shape and firmness.

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that will redefine your feminine curves and restore your self-confidence in your look. Your breasts tissues will be lifted and reshaped, restoring the rounded look of youth. In many cases, the nipple structure is relocated to the center of the reshaped breast mound, or areola size reduced to create the most youthful, natural appearance.

You may be a good candidate if:

  • You are less than satisfied with the shape or appearance of your breasts.
  • You are in overall good health.
  • You are a non-smoker or will quit smoking at least six to eight weeks before the surgery.

A mastopexy does not noticeably alter the size of the breasts. If you wish to have larger breasts, in addition to a breast lift, you may choose to undergo a breast lift with augmentation.

  • Dr. Zaluzec and her team will be available to you throughout your recovery. You can expect to be seen one to three days after surgery to ensure your recovery is both smooth and successful.
  • In the early stages of recovery, you will have pain medication to help limit discomfort and you will wear a surgical bra to protect your breast tissue and new implants if applicable.
  • Dr. Zaluzec will discuss specific activity limitations with you during your consultation and recovery process. Generally, patients need to avoid strenuous exercises and lifting weights for four to six weeks.
